Lo Ba'Shamayim Hi: Ki B'Ficha Uvil'vavcha La'Asoto

Lo Ba'Shamayim Hi is a collection of musings on all things Jewish. The title comes from Deuteronomy 30:10-14 (translation mine):
For when you listen to HaShem your G-d to keep his commandments and laws as set down in Torah, you will return to Him with all your heart and with all your soul. For this commandment which I command you today is not too wondrous for you nor too distant. It is not in Heaven such that you would say: "Who will bring us up to Heaven and bring it to us, tell it to us, that we may do it?" It is not across the sea such that you would say: "Who will bring us across the see and bring it to us, tell it to us, that we may do it?" For this matter is so close to you, it is in your mouths and hearts to do it.
Torah is not a distant concept. It does not place undue burdens or restrictions on us. It is not difficult. Rather it is part of us, it is already in our mouths for us to speak and in our hearts for us to do. If only we are willing to open our souls, we will hear.
